Reading this site
The public pages — the homepage, the helpline directory, the rescue guides and the rest of the marketing pages — need no account and set no cookies. There is no advertising network, no third-party analytics and no tracking pixel on this site.
Requests are logged by the web server in the ordinary way (IP address, time, page requested, browser user agent) for security and diagnostics.
Calling a helpline number
The numbers in the helpline directory belong to independent rescue groups and volunteers. When you call or message one of them, that conversation is between you and them — it does not pass through this site, and Jinseva does not see, log or store it.
Reporting a rescue case
When you report an animal to an organisation running on Jinseva, that organisation collects what it needs to send someone: your name and phone number, the location, and a description of the animal and what happened.
- This information is visible to that organisation only. Other organisations on the platform cannot see it — scoping is enforced on the server, not merely hidden in the interface.
- Your phone number is used to acknowledge the report and to send you one status update. A caller receives at most two WhatsApp messages in total.
- Your phone number is never shown on a public page and is never sold, rented or shared for marketing.
Rescue photos are not stored
If you attach a photo when reporting a case, it is sent to the responding team over WhatsApp so they know what they are coming to, and then discarded. It is never written to the database and never becomes part of the case record.
Having an account
Volunteers and administrators of a member organisation have an account holding their name, mobile number and role, together with optional details their organisation asks for, such as a profile photo, date of birth or address. Passwords are stored only as a cryptographic hash and are never recoverable in readable form.
Signing in sets one cookie, js_sess. It is HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax and Secure over HTTPS, it holds a signed session token and nothing else, and it exists solely to keep you logged in. It is not used for tracking or advertising. Your browser also keeps a small record of which account is signed in on that device, in local storage.
Messages sent on your behalf
Case alerts and caller updates are delivered through a WhatsApp gateway using the WhatsApp device your organisation has linked. A log of each message and its outcome — sent, failed or skipped — is kept in your organisation’s outbox so a message that never arrived is visible rather than assumed.
Payments
Subscription payments are processed by Razorpay. Card numbers, UPI identifiers and bank credentials are entered on Razorpay’s own checkout and never reach this platform. What is stored here is the payment reference and the tax invoice for your organisation’s records.
How long data is kept
Case records are kept for as long as the organisation that created them keeps its account, since they are that organisation’s operational and reporting history. Account records are kept while the account is active.
Your choices
- Access and export. An organisation can export its case data to CSV from the reports page at any time.
- Correction. Volunteers and administrators can correct their own details from the profile page.
- Deletion. Requests to delete an account or a case record can be raised from your dashboard. Where a record must be kept for statutory or accounting reasons — a tax invoice, for example — it is retained for that purpose only.
- Helpline listings. If a number in the directory is yours and you want it corrected or removed, see the contact page.
Children
The platform is intended for use by adults acting on behalf of a rescue organisation. Accounts are not knowingly created for children.
